Åsa Bergh

Åsa Bergh plays the role of Ulrika from Västergöhl.

Åsa Bergh was born in 1966 in Stockholm. Her professional stage debut took place in 1986 at the Regina Theater in Stockholm where she appeared in a play for children entitled Trollpulvret (The Magic Dust).

Between 1979 and 1986 she learned theater arts at the Säffle Theater, in the province of Värmland, 300 kilometers west of Stockholm.

In 1988 Åsa played the role of Chava in the musical Fiddler on the roof at the Värmland Folk Theater. She performed in the musical Hello, Dolly!, The Canterbury Tales, and in Rönnerdahl, a cavalcade of songs from Swedish folk singer Evert Taube.

In 1991-1993 Åsa performed with the musical theater group "October".

Åsa Bergh won roles in The dangerous journey and The story of the magic flute which were both performed for children. She played Maria in West Side Story and appeared in Ett frieri (A proposal of marriage) and Dagboksblad (Page from a diary).

In 1994 Åsa returned to Säffle and the Säffle Opera where she directed a production of The merry widow. At the Blekinge/Kronoberg Regional Theater Åsa played Polly in The three penny opera.

Åsa Bergh has played Ulrika in Kristina from Duvemåla in all three productions: Malmö, Gothenburg, and Stockholm.

In the autumn of 1997, Åsa played Portia in Shylock at the Säffle Theater.

In February 1998 Åsa's first solo CD was released under the title Vi sjunger i natt (Let's sing tonight).

Åsa Bergh is self-taught and has complemented her training with private dance and voice instruction.
