Helen Sjöholm plays the role of Kristina.
Helen Sjöholm was born in 1970 in Sundsvall, 400 kilometers north of Stockholm. Her professional stage debut took place in the late 80's. She toured for two years with the singing and entertainment group "Just for Fun".
In the early 90's Helen Sjöholm appeared in various productions in Sundsvall such as The wizard of Oz and West Side Story. She also took part in concert shows of Chess and carried the lead role in the Enskede Theater's production of Little Dorrit in Stockholm.
In 1992 Helen performed the role of Hedvig in the Malmö Musical Theater's production of Elvira Madigan.
In 1993 Helen appeared in Ben Jonson's Volpone at the Intiman Theater in Malmö.
Helen has a wide singing repertoire and has given solo performances for many occasions on the radio, TV, and at several concerts. Since early in the 1990's she has been a member of the singing group "Meiram".
Helen Sjöholm has played the starring role as Kristina in Kristina from Duvemåla since the autumn of 1995, in Malmö and Gothenburg as well as in Stockholm. She also participated in the concerts which were held in Minnesota during a visit to the United States in 1996. Together with the other three soloists from the show, Helen recorded the Swedish Grammy Award winning CD Kristina from Duvemåla, released in October 1996.
Helen performed the Swedish voice for the title role for the Fox animated motion picture Anastasia.
During the fall and winter of 1997, Helen played the role of Hodel in the Malmö Musical Theater's production of Fiddler on the roof.
Education:
Helen Sjöholm attended the Kulturama jazz and pop singing schools in Stockholm. She has complemented her training with many years of singing in choirs, among them, under the tutelage of Torsten Föllinger.
Commendations:
Helen Sjöholm was awarded the Stallbrödernas Scholarship in 1988, the Thalia Statuette in 1997, and the Ulla Billqvist Scholarship in 1997.
