Peter Jöback

Peter Jöback plays Robert, Karl Oskar's brother.

Peter was born in 1971 in Stockholm. In 1982, he made his professional stage debut at the Folkan Theater in Stockholm. He played Kurt, one of the von Trapp children, in the musical Sound of Music.

In 1982-84 Peter continued working at Folkan and appeared in Snow White and Mio my Mio. In 1985 he played Asashof in the musical theater production of Cavallerijungfrun (The maiden of Cavalleri) at the Södra Theater in Stockholm. In the fall of 1988 Peter performed the lead role in the youth musical Här och nu (Here and now) at the Skandia Theater in Norrköping.

In 1990 Peter competed in the Swedish Song Contest with the song En sensation. The same year he sang the role of Tony in a Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra concert version of West Side Story at the Concert House in Stockholm.

In 1991 Peter played the teen angel in the musical Grease at the China Theater in Stockholm.

In 1992 Peter sang "More than a game", the official song of the European Football Championships at the opening ceremony which was televised and broadcast to millions of soccer fans.

In 1993 Peter played Nick Piazza in the first European production of the musical Fame at the China Theater. He was nominated for his performance in the category "best male artist in a musical" at the annual Swedish theater awards ceremony. In the same year Peter released his first solo CD entitled, Peter Jöback. Peter and his brother, Mikael Jöback, produced the album as well as wrote the music and lyrics. In 1993 Peter voice talents were featured in the title role of the Swedish version of Disney's animated film Aladdin.

In 1994 Peter played Grey Brother in the production of the musical The Jungle Book at the Folkan Theater. That same year he toured Sweden together with Pernilla Wahlgren, Karl Dyall, and Lizette Pålsson in the show entitled "Musikal X-press". In the summer of 1995 Musikal X-press continued its tour and it began with a month long stint at Hamburger Börs in Stockholm.

In the fall of 1996 Peter participated in a series of concerts featuring the music of Kristina from Duvemåla in Minnesota in the United States. Peter and the other soloists from the musical collaborated on the Swedish Grammy winning CD "Kristina from Duvemåla" which was released in October 1996.

>From February to September 1997 Peter performed in the musical Miss Saigon. He played the role of Chris, one of the two male leads, at the Drury Lane Theatre in London's West End. In the spring of 1997 he was named the Artist of the Year by the association, Stallbröderna/Stallfåglarna.

In November 1997 Peter released his second solo CD. "Personliga val" (Personal choice) received rave reviews by critics and includes music from Chess, Miss Saigon, and Gösta Bergling's Saga. In the first four months, the CD sold over 100,000 copies. Peter was nominated for the 1997 Artist of the Year at the Swedish Grammy Awards. During the Christmas holiday 1997 Peter had his own television program.

In January 1998 he held seven concerts around Sweden which was enjoyed by over 16,500 people. In September 1998 Peter's own show premièred at the Hamburger Börs.

Education and training: Six years at Adolf Fredrik's Music School in Stockholm and three years at Södra Latin Gymnasium's music line. Two years at the Royal University College of Music studying in the soloist line with an emphasis in jazz, as well as an independent study course. Six years at the Lasse Kühler Dance and Show School. Private drama lessons under the direction of Anita Molander.
